White Water Rafting
Three Bars Guest Ranch offers weekly white water rafting tours on the St. Mary’s River. Rafting down this unspoiled natural stone stream allows you to explore the river from a unique perspective. We put in only a 10 minute drive from the ranch. After a quick safety talk, you will board the rafts and travel eight miles down this Class II and Class III river. The trip winds through the St. Mary’s Valley and past the ranch to the pull out location, just a 5 minute drive from the ranch. Our rafts are top-of-the-line NRS inflatable expedition class, self-bailing boats. Life jackets and helmets are provided. We take water blasters, capable of shooting 50 yards, to add to the excitement of the journey! A great way to spend a hot summer day!
BC Fly Fishing
Three Bars Guest Ranch is located a short walk from the St. Mary’s River, which is considered to be one of the finest dry-fly fisheries in North America. You will enjoy Wild West Slope cutthroats from 14 to 20 inches long, and catch rates of 10 to 50 fish per day. As an added bonus, there is a good chance you will not see another angler during your float. The lack of angling pressure is due to the absence of roads along the length of the river. Fortunately, Three Bars Guest Ranch controls over 7 miles of river, giving you exclusive access. Fly fishing equipment is available from the lodge at no charge. Fishing licenses are required and are available for sale at the ranch.
Professionally Guided Day Trips
For the ultimate fly fishing adventure, Three Bars Guest Ranch works closely with the St. Mary Angler Guide Service. The guides will pick you up from the ranch for half or full day float trips. Because the St. Mary has limited access, the best way to fish the river is from a float boat. St. Mary Anglers provide quality equipment including waders, transportation, a boat, and professional guides. Day trips run approximately 8-10 hours and include a five-course gourmet lunch on the river. For more information visit St. Mary Anglers at www.stmaryangler.com
Hiking the Canadian Rockies
For those of you who wish to join a guided hike and raise your heart rate a little, come along on our once-weekly hike to Perry Creek Falls in the Purcell Mountains. This is a bush trail hike with some steep grades and a beautiful, natural waterfall as the destination. Three Bars Guest Ranch also has mapped, and marked hiking trails for those who prefer to get out on their own.
Mountain Biking
Three Bars Guest Ranch has a variety of high-end, specialized mountain bikes available for adults and kids to use at any time. The trail riding network offers endless trails to explore, ranging from old logging roads to steep and rocky backcountry trails. Bike helmets are provided in all sizes.
4×4 ATV Tours
Three Bars Guest Ranch now offers in-house ATV tours. A great way to explore lots of country. Both single and double seat ATV (all-terrain vehicles), brought right to the ranch to start your tour. Explore the backcountry on the latest machines – it’s a great way to explore a lot of terrain. A valid driver’s license is required to drive. Tours are not included in your weekly package price.
Trap Shooting
Archery
Always a favorite is the archery range, offered during the evening programs. Wranglers will instruct on safety and technique while you aim for the bullseye.
