Golfers delight at the diversity and depth of golf courses within 20 minutes drive from the ranch.  Kimberley is home to Trickle Creek, Kimberley and Bootleg gap. Cranbrook houses the Cranbrook City course, St. Eugene, Mission hills and Waylynn courses.  Tyler often puts together a golf group one afternoon from the ranch for those who would like to play around of golf yet don't have anyone else in their family or group who wish to join them.  All area courses have club rentals and cart rentals available.   If you would like more detailed information on the local courses do drop us an email and we're happy to get a 20 page golfers guide mailed out to you .

Just a short walk from the Three Bar Lodge flows the St. Mary, a blue ribbon, catch and release fly fishing river. July starts the summer on the river. About this time the lakes cool down and the water level in the river reaches that perfect point. Dry fly fishing is what the St. Mary is famous for. In the summer there isn't anything more enjoyable than drifting a Hopper or an Adam's on the surface and then watching a large cutthroat either sip it under or violently attack it. Prolific hatches occur throughout the river in the summer. Caddis and mayfly are favorites but one can't dismiss the Stone Flies or even the Midges.

In a good day's fishing it's not unusual to catch 20 or 30 cutthroat. The average trout will be from 10 to 16 inches.
The lodge has fly fishing equipment available for those interested. Local guides are available for those interested in guide trips or drifting. Fly fishing season opens June 15th.

The best dry fly fishing on the St. Mary is after spring run-off, when the river starts to warm up. Aquatic insects prefer water temperature close to 50 degrees (10 Celsius) before they start to hatch. There's often great Stone Fly hatches early in the season and the action can be spectacular. We've had success with a dry fly in late summer and early fall when the St. Mary is low and clear.  We work with local guides who will come to the ranch and pick you up for a day of floating the river, there is additional charges for the guide service.
